This is about you, not me!

I’m Jim Dempsey. I guide private journeys through Dublin and Ireland, and every journey begins with getting to know the people travelling with me. I put my training and experience to work for you.

You may know exactly what you want—or you may still be discovering it. So I ask questions! What brings you here? What interests you? What do you already know—and what are you curious about?

Your answers help me shape the tour. So does the conversation around them. I listen, pay attention and find the connections that make a place meaningful to you. Where else have you travelled? What stayed with you? That helps me understand the perspective you bring.

For some, Ireland is a lifelong ambition. Others have travelled the globe before getting here. Both give us a different starting point.

I bring years of experience as a guide, leader and trainer. I hold Ireland’s National Tour Guide and Dublin City & Environs qualifications, and have taught the National Tour Guide programme six times. That knowledge helps me tailor the tour, follow your questions and make connections along the way. The learning is continuous—it keeps me fresh!

Guests tell me I’m knowledgeable, funny and a good storyteller. I enjoy putting those things together: finding the story that catches your imagination, making room for your questions, and sharing a laugh along the way.

Artisan and organic food are part of my working life, too. The people who grow, make and cook our food have their own stories to tell—and often a delicious way of telling them. There’s room for great food along the way.

I work with personal and corporate clients, and a select group of travel agents and advisors. Each brings different expectations. My approach begins in the same place: understanding the people, then bringing knowledge, imagination and care to their experience.

Tell me what you have in mind. We’ll begin there.

Planning your own journey?

You can also draw on my local knowledge to plan your time in Ireland—from routes and places to stay to memorable food stops. Planning consultations are mainly available from October to April.
